Assalamualaikum everyone!
We all want to be free from fear, grief and punishment. Right? Here's how it's possible. The answer is given by Allah Himself:
"Indeed, the believers, Jews, Christians, and Sabians—whoever ˹truly˺ believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good will have their reward with their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve."
(Surah Al Baqarah, Ayat 62)
We live in times when we are surrounded by everything that makes us fearful and sad and we face sickness due to grief. And one who experiences these emotions, he/she definitely pass it on to others consciously or unconsciously. Just like positive emotions, negative emotions are contagious as well and even fatal.
So in order to achieve salvation from fear and grief in this world and in hereafter, what do we have to do as per Quran (instructed by Allah)?
1. Believe in Allah
2. Believe in Judgment Day
3. Act righteously
If we contemplate on these three points, we will realize that the other two are dependent on first point. If first is missing, the other loses their quality even existence in our lives too.
Is there any method of evaluating our status? Yes. If our deeds are not correct, our belief on Judgment Day and next life is weak, that means belief in Allah is weak. And if we are doing good deeds, meaning acting righteously, then our belief on Judgement Day is fortified and if that happens then our belief in Allah gets stronger.
Also, we must always remember that: we have to believe in Allah by the standards He has set for Himself, not what we think of it to be. As for us humans, something could be right or wrong, but the main question is, what does Allah think? And Allah had revealed the knowledge of right and wrong through Messenger (S.A.W) and previous as well, so naturally if we don't believe in Prophets (Messengers), belief in Allah is impossible as everyone has their own standards and this is where we often mess up. And end up into fear, grief and despair and disputes.
So we must keep working on our faith in Allah through the knowledge He had sent for us through Prophet (Sunnah) and the Divine Book (Quran) and strive for Jannah while believing on Judgement Day for the perfect justice. And all of our struggle in striving towards Him will be counted as good deeds, however small the steps may be. InshaAllah.
This has been my major lesson of 2023 with deep understanding taught by Ustaad Nouman Ali Khan in Surah Al-Baqarah tafseer series and I thought of sharing with you all, as I strive towards Him with more focus and proper intentions, InshaAllah.
Do remember me and each other in your prayers.
Take care! 🌼
